Anisotropy of X-ray critical scattering in liquid crystals
Description
A classification of smectic phases of liquid crystals and experimental results on the anisotropy of X-ray critical scattering are presented. The measurements of X-ray scattering were carried out on two-crystal spectrometer of high resolution for the following phase transitions: smectic A - nematic, smectic B - nematic and smectic B -isotropic. The critical exponents νparallel, νperpendicular, γ and the change of the correlation lengths with temperature are determined. The relationships between the anisotropy of X-ray critical scattering and the symmetry of liquid crystals are shown. 182 refs. (author)
