Radiolysis of dilute potassium iodide solutions
Description
Radiolysis of potassium iodide (10-5 and 10-4 mol.dm-3) in a boric acid solution (0.1 mol.dm-3) neutralized with ammonia to pH 7.0, or in triply distilled water was investigated. The values of G(-I-) were low, of the order of 10-2 to 10-4, and decreased with increasing absorbed dose. Both the decrease in iodide concentration and the ratio of its oxidation products were different in buffered and unbuffered solutions. (author). figs., 2 tabs., 15 refs
