Effect of yttrium ferrite garnet film magnetic ordering on secondary particle emission
Creators
Description
The nature of variations in sputtering coefficient and secondary ion emission caused by changes in magnetic ordering of multicompoonent ferromagnetic materials was studied using monocrystals films of Y3F5O12 yttrium ferrite garnet. 12μm films were sputtered by 6 keV Ar+ ion beam at the angel of 30 deg to the surface. Total sputtering coefficient was determined by measuring the sputtering rate at a fixed temperature. It is found that total sputtering coefficient in paramagnetic state is 2.5 - 3.0 times higher than in ferromagnetic state. Magnetic ordering also affects the share of sputtered ions of low and high energy
