Description
World production of ormers is estimated at 22 000 t (13 species are fished, mainly for consumption in Japan and California). Only 5-6 t/a are caught in French waters. With a view to seeing whether the European ormer H. tuberculata is a bioindicator for Tc, determinations have been made on specimens caught near La Hague and the results are compared with those obtained by an American team on the American ormer.
