Segmented Compton suppression spectrometer using bismuth germanate

  • 1. British Columbia Univ., Vancouver (Canada). TRIUMF Facility

Description

A Compton suppression spectrometer has been constructed for use in experiments performed in an intense beam environment. The high rate capability is achieved by the use of a segmented configuration of bismuth germanate crystals. Performance characteristics of this instrument have been measured both with radioactive sources and in the environment of a stopping π- beam. (orig.)
