Description
The Zeeman effect was measured at the absorption band of Ni2+ with hexagonal CdS, ZnO and ZnS, and with cubic ZnS. At T = 1.6 K, perfect crystals weakly doped with Ni show absorption lines with some cm-1 line widths only. The results allow us to decide between different interpretations of absorption lines, using crystal field theory and the influence of a Jahn-Teller effect. (orig./SMV)
