Estimation of neptunium in uranium product received from fast reactor fuel reprocessing

  • 1. Fuel Chemistry Division, Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research, Kalpakkam (India)

Description

Estimation of neptunium in various PUREX process streams is necessary for understanding the path of neptunium during reprocessing of fast reactor fuels. Various methods such as neutron activation analysis (NAA), spectrophotometry and electroanalytical techniques have been reported for quantitative estimation of neptunium in the process streams. Among these, NAA offers a convenient and very sensitive method (sensitivity = 10-3 μg) for estimating Np
