The dynamics of North American natural gas liquids

The economics and dynamics of natural gas liquids (NGLs) with respect to local market, North America as a whole, and developments in the offshore liquid petroleum gas field, were discussed. Over 3.1 million barrels a day of NGL are produced in North America. That production is consumed in heating, agriculture, cooking, motor fuel, refining, and as an ethylene feedstock. The existence and size of the petrochemical and refining industries in North America was considered to be an important element of the dynamics of NGL. NGL consumption/production areas are related through the transportability of NGLs, hence the dynamics of NGL between different parts of the world are related as continuously occurring events, thus guaranteeing imbalances and the need for continuous adjustment of trade patterns
