Strength of zirconia-effect of environment and braze alloys
Description
Flexural strengths of monolithic zirconia exposed to diesel engine exhaust and several braze alloys were obtained. Exposure and test conditions were selected to approximate projected conditions in advanced diesel engines. A significant decrease in strength was observed for zirconia after diesel engine-exhaust exposure. Braze alloys investigated reduced the room temperature strength of the zirconia by 13% to 66%
