Theoretical study of hydride fissuring kinetics in Zr alloys

Description
A diffusion model is developed to calculate the velocity of delayed hydride cracking (DHC) in unirradiated zirconium base alloys. The velocity of DHC is predicted for fuel cans in WWER and RBMK reactors as well as for pressure tubes in CANDU reactors. It is shown that in a temperature range of 150-330 deg C, other factors being the same, the velocity of DHC in Zr - 2.5% Nb alloy is far greater than in alloy Eh110. It is believed that the tendency of CANDU pressure tubes to fracture by a DHC mechanism is mainly determined by their high strength properties
Abstract (Russian)
Разработана диффузионная модель расчета скорости замедленного гидридного растрескивания (ЗГР) в необлученных сплавах на основе циркония. Прогнозируется скорость ЗГР в твэльных оболочках реакторов ВВЭР и РБМК, а также в трубах давления реакторов CANDU. Показано, что в температурном интервале 150-330 град С при прочих равных условиях скорость ЗГР в сплаве Zr - 2.5% Nb значительно выше, чем в сплаве Э110. Можно предположить, что склонность труб давления CANDU к разрушению по механизму ЗГР определяется, главным образом, их высокими прочностными характеристикамиAdditional details
