Creators

Description

The conference paper deals with the environmental impacts of hydroelectric power development in Norway. Ground water observations along the Alta river started in 1972 at four different cross-sections downstream from the dam-site. Hydro-power production started in 1987 and data for the period after the regulation are compared to data for the period before. Correlations between water levels in the river, air temperature, amount precipitation and groundwater are discussed and conclusions on the effects of the regulation are drawn. In addition a general description of the groundwater regime is given. 7 figs., 1 tab
