Description

Exploring the dynamics of radiographic film darkening, a differential equation was obtained relating the film contrast to its optical density, whose solution gives an analytical expression for the characteristic curve of a radiographic film. Film attributes like contrast and latitude, for example, can then be studied analytically. The formula has four parameters that can be estimated for each type of film. The results obtained from statistical estimations showed an excellent adjustment of the analytical model to empirical data. (author)
