Multiplicities of secondary charged particles in interactions of 50 GeV/c pions minus with photoemulsion nuclei

  • 1. Joint Inst. for Nuclear Research, Dubna (USSR)

Description

Interactions of π- mesons with emulsion nuclei at 50 GeV/c are investigated. Average multiplicities of shower negatively charged ''grey'' and ''black'' particles are presented for three interaction types: interactions with free and quasifree nucleons, nuclear interactions with less than 7 strongly ionizing particles, interactions with more than 6 such particles. Average charge per interaction values are fiven. The experimental dependence of the dispersion of the average number of shower particles on the average number and the dependence of the normalized correlation moment γsub(2)=D/(nsub(s))sup(2) on the number of strongly ionizing particles are compared with model predictions
