Nonlinear stationary states of the collisional drift-wave instability taking temperature fluctuations into account

  • 1. Inst. of Physics and Tech., Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR, Kharkov

Description

Owing to the strong coupling of unstable waves, the ensemble of these waves is divided into triplets consisting of two waves unstable in the linear theory and a zero-frequency mode. However, the steady states of such waves are unstable and are not seen in nature. A nonlinear dominant wave running against the density gradient direction suppresses the wave running along the density gradient direction and is stabilized by its damped upper harmonics. The steady state of the dominant wave has internal and external stabilities. The level of the dominant wave amplitude is studied, along with the enhanced diffusion coefficient and the electron temperature flow
