Behaviour of thermal recovery in gold monocrystals irradiated with 3 MeV electron beam at 5 K temperature

Description
In contrast to the other fcc metals, Gold shows an anomalous behaviour during irradiation at low temperatures and during thermal annealing. This anomaly is mainly the absence of Stage I annealing. In this work the Au behaviour is analyzed through measurements of electrical resistivity, change of lattice parameter and diffuse scattering of X-rays; in mono-and polycrystals high purity Au and also in Au (400 ppm.
