Description

The authors chose (SP-R)[FeIIFeIII(dto)3] (SP=spiropyran, R=Me,Et,Pr, dto=C2O2S2) as a subject, and studied the effects of photo-isomerization of spiropyran molecule (SP-R) intercalated between layers on charge transfer phase transition and ferromagnetic transition of [FeIIFeIII(dto)3] using Moessbauer spectroscopy and magnetometry. The authors clarified that when the photo-responsive organic-inorganic composite complex (SP-Me)[FeIIFeIII(dto)3] is irradiated with ultraviolet rays, charge transfer phase transition occurs in [FeIIFeIII(dto)3] layer with the photo-isomerization of SP-Me as a mediator. In addition, it was clarified that the ferromagnetic transition and charge transfer phase transition in (SP-R)[FeIIFeIII(dto)3] depends greatly on the substituent R of SP and also significantly on a solvent during synthesis.
