Calibration device for ultrasonic inspection equipment
Description
The inspection equipment is introduced into the reactor vessel and deposited there. The real inspection of the vessel is performed by means of a manipulator arm carrying an ultrasonic transducer field and being desplaceable along nine axes of motion for the inspection of welds. In order to be sure of adequate testing the origin of the field must exactly be known. This is achieved by means of a calibration unit by which the exact zero position in the vessel is fixed, the position of the ultrasonic transducer is calibrated and its angular position can be determined. It has got a spherical calibration body and at least one inlined reflection surface (tuncated cone surface) that can take a fixed position with respect to the ultrasonic transducer. The calibration body and/or the reflection surface are moved with respect to the ultrasonic transducer until the maximum amplitude of the reflected signal is obtained. (DG)

Das Inspektionsgeraet wird in den Reaktorkessel eingefuehrt und abgesetzt. Die eigentliche Kesselinspektion erfolgt mittels eines Manipulatorarmes, der ein Ultraschallwandlerfeld traegt und zur Schweissnahtuntersuchung laengs neun Bewegungsachsen verschiebbar ist. Um Pruefsicherheit sicherzustellen, muss der Ausgangspunkt des Feldes genau bekannt sein. Hierzu dient eine Kalibriereinrichtung, die eine genaeue Nullpunktlage im Kessel festlegt und mit der die US-Wandlerposition geeicht sowie deren Winkellage bestimmt werden kann. Sie weist eine kugelfoermigen Eichkoerper und zumindest eine unter einem Winkel verlaufende Reflexionsflaeche (Kegelstumpfflaeche) auf, die gegenueber dem US-Wandler eine feststehende Position einnehmen kann. Der Eichkoerper und/oder die Reflexionsflaeche werden so lange gegenueber dem US-Wandler verschoben, bis maximale Amplitude des reflektierten Signals erhalten wird. (DG)Files
