Radiation protection guides for atomic plants in the USSR
Description
Basic standard technical documents in the field of atomic plant (AP) radiation safety in the USSR are considered. They comprise 'The Radiation Safety Standards' (RSS-76/87), 'The basic sanitary rules of working with radioactive substances and other sources of ionizing radiations' (B9R-72/87), 'Sanitary rules of design and operation of atomic plants' (SRAP-88), 'Requirements to atomic plant location', 'General rules of atomic plant safety provisions' (GRS-88). It is shown that the practical realization of standard document requirements allows one to reduce the negative AP effect on the population in the vicinity and environment and on the whole solve the problem of AP radiation safety
