Kinetic theory of current-driven ion acoustic instability

  • 1. Physics Dept., I.I.T.Delhi-110016

Description

In this paper the authors have used an energy conserving Krook operator to investigate the kinetic theory of ion acoustic waves in a collisional plasma with electron streaming. Since the operator is energy conserving, one can reproduce the results obtained from hydro-dynamic equation of Braginskii except for some numerical factors. This is the first theory which can therefore be used to investigate the effect of collisions on ion acoustic instability
