The conductive polymeric nano-fibers prepared by electrostatic spinning

In our study, we have selected polycaprolactone (PCL) for good mechanical properties but especially for its long-term stability in the body. The first step in our research was to prepare non-woven pyrrole (Py) PCL textiles with nano and submicron fiber dimensions. The presence of pyrroles in the fibers was confirmed by the ToF-SIMS method. The Py-containing PCL thus prepared was then surface-treated in situ with the conductive polymer PPy. Polymerization conditions were studied and various analytical methods such as XPS and FTIR were used for characterization. The SEM was used to characterize the structure and the morphology of the fibers. Selected samples were tested for biological activity and toxicity in murine fibroblast cells. The assay confirmed the predicted ability of the composite material to be produced - namely, the growth and division of cells. (authors)
