Description

The design of the SC quadrupole with the field gradient of 220 Tl/m is developed as a result of optimization of its geometrical parameters. The wire from Nb3Sn was used. The design ensures sufficient mechanical property of the quadrupole. Optimal distribution of turns in the central and edge sections of windings suppresses the lower nonlinearities of the field and minimizes the field excess at the frontal parts of the quadrupole

Abstract (Russian)

В результате оптимизации геометрических параметров разработана конструкция СП-квадруполя с градиентом поля 220 Тл/м. Использовался СП провод из Nb3Sn. Конструкция обеспечивает достаточную механическую прочность квадруполя. Оптимальное распределение витков в центральной и краевой частях обмоток подавляет низшие поля и минимизирует превышение поля на лобовых частях квадруполя
