Requirements for radiological diagnostics under gynaecological aspects

For primary diagnostics and the follow-up of gynaecological diseases, inspection with colposcopy and palpation play the most important role. Ultrasound techniques provide the most essential complementary method. Computed tomography is not helpful for the pretherapeutic staging of gynaecological cancer. This is especially true of the staging of cervical cancer especially for the lymph-node diagnosis. The same is the case in the diagnosis of recurrences. The uncertainty of all diagnostic procedures - the clinical and imaging techniques - very often leads to indications for staging operations. (orig.)
