Properties of electron beam welded joints of EhP428 steel
Creators
Description
Weldability of high-strength martensitic EhP428 steel with an electron beam is investigated through the tendency to cracking under thermal cycling. The analysis of signals of the acoustic emission has shown complete absence of cracks in jonts welded without preliminary heating. After thermal treatment (heating up to 670 deg C, aging for 2.5 hours, furnace cooling) of the weld metal, heat affected zones have bainite-ferrite structure analogous to the structure of the main metal. It is established that strength properties of welded joints of the EhP428 steel made by electron beam welding are at the level of properties of the main metal
