The influence of spontaneous symmetry breaking on the dynamics in field theoretical models
Description
Symmetries are not as well understood in quantum field theory as in classical physics. Some examples are given to show that the term 'symmetry' must be treated carefully. Spontaneous symmetry breaking (SSB) is the case of an automorphism group of an algebra, which is created by a conserved current, but which is not unitary implementable. Besides the Goldsone-Theorem there are only few exact statements about SSB. The reason is a narrow connection between AAB and the dynamics. This mechanism is investigated in detail in a ferromagnetic and in a relativistic model. In these models the SSB is remarkable drastically in the asymptotic spaces and in the scattering amplitudes although the transformation group is created by conserved current. Especially the SSB is the reason for the unstable excitations. (orig.)

Symmetrien sind in der Quantenfeldtheorie laengst nicht so gut verstanden wie in der klassischen Physik. Es werden einige Beispiele angegeben, die zeigen, dass man mit dem Begriff 'Symmetrie' sehr vorsichtig umgehen muss. Unter spontaner Symmetriebrechung (SSB) verstehen wir den Fall einer Automorphismengruppe einer Algebra, die von einem erhaltenen Strom erzeugt wird, aber nicht unitaer implementierbar ist. Abgesehen vom Goldstone-Theorem gibt es nur wenige exakte Aussagen ueber SSB. Der Grund dafuer ist ein enges Zusammenspiel der SSE mit der Dynamik. Dieser Mechanismus wird in einem ferromagnetischen Modell und in einem relativistischen Modell genauer untersucht. In den Modellen zeigt sich, dass sich die SSB drastisch in den asymptotischen Raeumen und in den Streuamplituden bemerkbar macht, obwohl die Transformationsgruppe von einem erhaltenen Strom erzeugt wird. Insbesondere treten in den Modellen als Folge der SSB instabile Anregungen auf. (orig.)
