Preparation of saccharides uniformly labelled with 14C radioisotope. Part VI
Description
1,6-anhydro-β-D-[U-14C]-glucopyranose was prepared by pyrolysis of U-14C-glucane from the Chlorella vulgaris Beijerinck algae at reduced pressure. The compound was separated by preparative paper chromatography with yields of 25 to 30% relative to the radioactivity of the initial[U-14C]glucane. The compound whose preparation has not been described in the literature is of a potential value as an initial compound for the preparation of a number of saccharides and their derivatives that are difficult to obtain.
