Device for probing plasmas when a conductive sediment is being deposited

Description
This paper describes a method for measuring the current-voltage characteristic of an electric plasma probe when a conductive layer is deposited on its insulation. The device is designed to probe artificial ionospheric plasma irregularities. When the probe potential is varied from -2.5 to +3.5 V, currents of 0.15-60 μA are measured. The measurement error is under 20% when the insulation resistance drops to tens of ohms. Improving the measurement range of the device is considered
