Diagnostic imaging of extra sternal signs of sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis

Sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis is a bening ossifying disorder that is characterized radiologically by the presence of hyperostosis and ossification of the soft tissue located between the clavicle, anterior portion of the upper ribs and the sternum. It has been reported in associated with hyperostosis in other skeletal locations. We present a case of sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis associated with sclerotic lesions of the spinal cord and pelvic girdle that required differential diagnosis to rule out blastic metastases. We show the plain radiology, CT and MR findings in the sternal and extra external regions. (Author)
