Surface dose rate evaluation of low level waste packages arising from nuclear power plant decommissioning
- 1. University of Fukui, Graduate school of Engineering, Department of Nuclear Power and Safety Engineering (Japan)
Description
The surface dose rates of waste packages containing core components were calculated in various packaging conditions by PHITS. The results indicate that waste configuration conditions affect the surface dose rate, and that installing iron shieldings inside the package is effective in reducing dose rate. We will continue the study on optimization of packages manufacturing in various radioactive components arising from dismantling activities. (author)
