Description

The slow acidification of the environment and the frequent occurrence of precipitations with pH lower than 5.6 over areas extending continuously are due to pollutant emissions especially SO2 and NOx of anthropic sources. There is an undoubted relationship between the SO2 emissions from the power plants through high stacks and the long range transboundary pollution. All over the world measures are taken to prevent further damaging of the environment and to solve the present situation. (author). 13 refs
