Optimized extractants for actinides

Description
To improve the fuel (particularly U-Pu) reprocessing process triisoamyl phosphate (TIAP) and diisobutylisooctylphosphate (DIBIOP) are suggested for the first extraction cycle and plutonium affinage. Their usage prevents the second organic phase formation at any plutonium concentration and reduces extractant losses caused by its solubility in the aqueous phase. For a deep extraction of actinides from waste aryl substituted carbamoylphosphine oxides and diphosphine oxides are suggested. The extractants were successfully tested at a pilot plant for high-burn-up fuel (100 GW day/t) reprocessing at the solution activity up to 1000 Ci/l. TIAP has been commercially used. (author)
