Microstructure of Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O prepared by melt process

  • 1. Mitsubishi Electric Corp., Kanagawa (Japan)

Description

The microstructure and superconducting properties for samples with the composition of Bi2Sr2Ca1+2xCu2+xOy (x=0, 0.2, 1.0) prepared by a melt process have been examined. The Bi2Sr2Ca1Cu2Oy, Bi2.0Sr2.7Ca1.0Oy and liquid phase at around 865 degrees C. The quantity of the (Ca,SR)2CuO3 precipitates in the sample was controlled by enriching the Ca and Cu contents and/or changing the annealing conditions. The magnetic field dependence of the intragrain critical current density was improved in samples by distributing two kinds of precipitates, (Ca,Sr)2CuOy and Sr-Pt-O compounds. The latter precipitates were much smaller in size than the former
