Evidence for (α, 5He) reactions in the interaction of high-energy α particles with 208Pb

Description
α-neutron coincidence measurements performed on the ²⁰⁸Pb(α,α^'n) reaction at E_α=66 MeV show clear evidence for short-lived ⁵He production. The majority of α particles with energy between 40 and 51.5 MeV are assigned to the (α,⁵He) reaction channel.NUCLEAR REACTIONS ²⁰⁸Pb(α,⁵He), E=66 MeV; measured α-neutron coincidence.
