Description

Only 1% total amount of uranium was used for power production in reactors on thermal neutrons. Therefore, for generation of 1 TWh of electric energy, about 20 tons of natural uranium was used. Only 150 kg of uranium above mentioned amount of uranium was participated into fissile processes. The fact breeder reactor with suitable reprocessing plant make it possible to increase of utilisation of uranium. In such system, the only of 350 kg of natural uranium is used for production of 1 TWh electric energy. In paper, the principle of fast breeder reactor was described. The experience with design and exploitation of these type of reactor as well as technology proposals was presented. (author)
