Temperature dependence of the dynamic polarizability of diatomic molecules

  • 1. Optical Coating Department at the Components Group of Coherent Inc., Auburn, California

Description

The vibronic, centrifugal, vibrational, and rotational contributions to the polarizability of CO, HCl, and HF at λ(μm) = 0.63, 10, and infinity in the 300--3000-K range have been calculated. It is shown that the available experimental data on the temperature dependence of the electronic polarizability of N2 and H2 are in marked disagreement with theoretical estimates
