Electric power on its way into the next millennium

After the German reunification, the pending introduction of the European Internal Market and the dramatic upheavals in Middle and Eastern Europe, the makers of energy policies and the operators of public utilities are confronted with extremely difficult tasks. Protection of the environment, especially the prevention of climatic changes, the securing of energy supplies, profitability and conservation of resources are all goals which have the same priority and are hard to reconcile with one another. In a long series of contributions, the authors of the book address themselves to essential questions concerning energy supplies today and in the future, whereby special emphasis is put on the role of nuclear energy.
