It is important that local populations be informed of the Chernobyl Forum results, and this can be done very effectively through health care professionals, who tend to be trusted in the communities that they serve. They should therefore be provided with all the necessary information. As regards future research, the three Governments should cooperate closely with scientists around the world. The aim should be the study of a single large population group covering all three countries, with a single protocol so that we can maximize the statistical power and the sensitivity of the study
