Production of multiply strange hadrons in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions
Description
The combined effect of two strangeness production mechanisms - color rope formation and secondary (preequilibrium) scattering - which are components of the transport model RQMD leads to considerable strangeness enhancement in central nucleus-nucleus collisions at 200 AGeV. It will be a challenge to distinguish experimentally the RQMD scenario from other possibilities, e.g. strong hadron mass modifications in the medium or quark-plasma break-up. (orig.)
