Phase equilibria in the Sm-In system

Description

The Sm-In system was studied using differential thermal, metallographic and X-ray analyses. The intermediate phases: Sm2In, Smsub(1+x)In, Sm3In5 and SmIn3; and five eutectics: β-Sm2In, Sm2In-Smsub(1+x)In, Smsub(1+x)In-Sm3In5, Sm3In5-SmIn3 and SmIn3-In are observed. The general characteristics of the phase diagram are briefly discussed and compared with those of the La-In, Ce-In and Pr-In systems. (Auth.)
