Renormalization group approach to instantons in lattice gauge theory

Description

A method for the treatment of instanton configurations in the framework of lattice gauge theory is proposed. This approach has the unique features of being analytical and of handling individual configurations. The method is based on the Renormalization Group formalism and emphasizes the role played by fixed-point actions. Actual calculations are carried out for the two-dimensional non-linear Sigma model. Techniques required for solving the equations involved are presented
