Synthesis and crystal structure of Nb2S4(S2CNEt2)4 -the first molecular complex containing [Nb2(μ2-S2)2]4+ fragment

Description
Nb2S4(S2CNEt2) (1) was obtained by interaction in water of Cs4Nb2S4(NCS)8 and NaS2CNEt2 with 48 % yield. Crystal lattice of 1 was determined: a = 21.18(8), b = 6,958(1), c 16,623(6) A, β = 133,95(2) deg, V = 1764(1) A3, sp. gr. C2/m, Z = 2, dcalcd = 1.708 g/cm3. [Nb2(μ2-S2)2]4+ fragment is in the basis of the molecule. Interatomic distance Nb-Nb in the fragment corresponds to ordinary metal-metal bond. Dithiocarbamate and disulfide ligands coordinated in bidentate way form distorted antiprism around each Nb atom as in NbS2Cl2
