Anodic dissolution of vanadium electrode in anhydrous acetic acid and its application to coulometric titration

Description
The mechanism of anodic vanadium dissolution in anhydrous CH3COOH is investigated to detect optimal conditions of vanadium ion generation in different oxidation degrees and to study the possibility of using these ions as coulometric titrants for determining organic and inorganic compounds. It is established that vanadium electrode ionization in anhydrous CH3COOH may be accompanied by formation of vanadium (4) or vanadium (5) or polyvanadium ion. Electrogenerated vanadium (5) can be used for coulometric determination of microgram amounts of Fe (2), Sn (2), ascorbic acid, thiourea, its derivatives and some aromatic disulphides
