A silicone rubber thermoluminescent detector for measuring beta and gamma radiation

Description

The binder in the thermoluminescent detector is silicone resin in amounts of 10 to 60 wt.%, the filler is calcium sulfate doped with 40 to 90 wt.% of dysprosium oxide for measuring gamma radiation; it can also be doped with 1 to 3 % graphite for beta radiation measurements. The detectors involving silicone rubber can be manufactured at low costs in any size. The detectors remain flexible after multiple use; they are washable and health harmless, and are heat resistant over the region of -55 to 300 degC. The silicone-rubber thermoluminescent detectors can find use in personnel dosimetry, in the dosimetry of the environment, in research, industrial applications and, in particular, for radiation detection purposes in radiotherapy.
