Investigation of environmental natural penetrating radiation in Jiangxi province
- 1. Jiangxi Environmental Monitoring Central Station (China)
Description
The methods and results of the investigation on natural penetrating radiation level in Jiangxi Province are presented. 1360 10 x 10 km-netted measuring points were set up uniformly all over the province, with 460 densely measuring points of different types added. The results showed that: (1) The point-weighted, area-weighted and population-weighted average value of natural γ radiation dose rate over field is 7.33, 7.24 and 6.18 x x 10-8 Gyh-1, respectively; (2) The point-weighted average value of natural γ radiation dose rate over road is 7.36 x 10-8 Gyh-1; (3) The point-weighted and population-weighted average value of natural γ radiation dose rate inside buildings is 10.67 and 10.39 x 10-8 Gyh-1; (4) The point-weighted and population-weighted average value of the dose rate inside buildings from cosmic ray is 2.56 and 2.54 x 10-8 Gyh-1, and outside buildings is 2.95 and 2.92 x 10-8 Gyh-1, respectively; (5) The point-weighted and population-weighted average value of natural penetrating radiation dose rate inside buildings was 13.23 and 12.93 x 10-8 Gyh-1, and outside buildings is 10.28 and 9.83 x 10-8 Gyh-1, respectively; (6) The annual effective dose equivalent from natural γ radiation, cosmic ray and natural penetrating radiation is 0.58, 0.23 and 0.81 mSv, respectively, and correspondingly, the annual collective effective dose equivalent is 1.93, 0.76 and 2.69 x 104 man · Sv, respectively
