One-dimensional unsteady two-phase flows with interphase slip: a numerical study

  • 1. Purdue Univ, West Lafayette, Indiana

Description

A demonstration is made of the application of the Interphase Slip algorithm to the numerical computation of the unsteady motion of two fluids contained in a single duct. Both fluids are incompressible; and both the dispersed and gravity-stratified configurations are considered. The prediction of transient phenomena in two-phase compressible and incompressible flows with interphase slip is of great practical importance; for example, it is needed for studying loss-of-coolant accidents in pressurized-water nuclear reactors. 7 refs
