Feasibility of slurry method for TXRF analysis of estuarine core sample

  • 1. Environmental Radioactivity Measurement Section, Health Physics Division, Bhabha Atomic Research Centre, Mumbai (India)

Description

Feasibility of slurry method for analysis of the sediment sample using TXRF was studied and relative error in measurement was found to be 17%. Vertical distribution of K, Ca, Ti, Cr, Mn, Fe, Ni, Cu, Zn, Pb, Rb and Sr in estuarine core sediments has been done using Total reflection X-ray Florescence (TXRF) technique. To check the anthropogenic input Contamination factor (CF), Index of geoaccumulation, enrichment factor (EF) and pollution load Index were calculated for different elements. The value of Pollution Load Index (PLI) greater than 1 shows that there is significant anthropogenic contribution to the surface sediment sample. (author)
