Do recent sigma/sub L//sigma/sub T/ electroproduction data consistently support color excitation
Description
Assuming a color threshold W< or approx. =√ 80=8.9 GeV, an earlier prediction of a significant deviation of sigma/sub L//sigma/sub T/ from zero is in agreement with recent hydrogen electroproduction data. However, except in the case of factored three-- N/sub f/-plet models, there is a serious constraint of no evidence in ee-bar annihilation below 10.1 GeV and at 13.0, 17.0, and 27.4 GeV. Direct inclusive leptoproduction tests are proposed. In the factored model, the color degree of freedom is carried by charged spin-0 objects
