Development in nuclear geochemistry

  • 1. AN Kazakhskoj SSR, Alma-Ata. Inst. Geologicheskikh Nauk

Description

Main results of studying geochemistry of radioactive and stable isotopes, and using some nuclear physical investigation methods are presented. One of the main directions of investigations is study of natural radioelements and their isotopic composition both as genetic and searching indicators. This direction includes two aspects: studying the U and Th geochemistry in the processes of rock and ore formation and geochemistry of natural radioactive isotopes in the processes of hypergene migration. The second important direction of investigations consisted in studying Pb and S stable isotopes as genetic ore formation generators. The authors of basic works on the above directions are mentioned. Main conclusions of the works are briefly described. The use of nuclear gamma resonance spectrometry method for the purpose of mineralogy and petrography studies resulted in obtaining interesting conclusions concerning the determination of K-Ar age by biotite samples and the study of ferruginous and oxide minerals. Main perspectives and problems of nuclear geochemistry methods in the near future are presented
