Utilization of fast pulse reactors in nuclear and radiolysis
Description
By Utilization of intense pulsed neutron beams, new various aspects in nuclear and radiochemistries should be developed. On line charge spectrometry of recoil atoms after nuclear reactions and the analysis of the followed chemical reactions of the recoil atoms with neutral molecules become possible by the utilization. Their information will contribute very much to elucidate many ''black-boxes'' in the present feature of recoil chemistry. And also many new researches will become capable as a fission products reactor, a tritium reactor and a knock-on proton reactor. By a fission product reactor, the basic study of recoil implantation will be carried out and elucidate the mechanism of it. By a tritium reactor, a tritium source such as LiF is adopted and elucidate the intermediate species with neutral organic molecules. And by a knock-on proton reactor, the resultant of knock-on excited proton reaction with other organic molecules will become measurable. The most actual application will be done in the field of radioactivation analysis. Utilization of pulsed beams of high flux of fast and thermal neutrons will serve to the more sensitive analysis of many element by the detection of short-lived activated radio-nuclides having half-lives below than one minute.
