The paper is concerned with the oxidation behavior of MoSi2 as a bulk material and a coating on oxidation sensitive refractory material, e.g., carbon and niobium. The problems of the transport phenomena in the solid multiphase surface layers and their physical properties are discussed from the viewpoint of chemical modification
