Fuel element for gas-cooled fast nuclear reactors
Description
The fission gas discharge pipe of the He-cooled fast reactor has got a buffer space lying below the fuel rods. This space is connected with a predetermined leaking point at the transition between fission gas discharge pipe and fuel element support structure. By means of this principle of a diving bell penetration of water into the fuel rods on filling the reactor with water is prevented. (RW)

Die Spaltgasabfuehrungsleitung des mit He gekuehlten, schnellen Reaktors weist einen unterhalb der Brennstaebe liegenden Pufferraum auf. Dieser selbst ist wiederum mit einer Solleckstelle an der Uebergangsstelle zwischen Spaltgasabfuehrungsleitung und BE-Traegerkonstruktion verbunden. Dieses Taucherglockenprinzip verhindert ein Eindringen von Wasser in die Brennstaebe, wenn der Reaktor unter Wasser gesetzt wird. (RW)Files
